Cookie Policy
Last updated 2026-04-27. Working draft pending legal review. Contact/legal placeholders will be completed after review.
1. Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how GoofBot uses cookies and similar browser storage on the dashboard. It applies to goofbot.gyneric.net and devgoofbot.gyneric.net. The Discord bot itself does not set browser cookies.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files saved by your browser. They let a website remember state such as whether you are signed in, which theme you selected, and whether a security token belongs to your current session.
3. Cookies we use
GoofBot uses only functional and security cookies needed to operate the dashboard.
- Session cookie — keeps you signed in to the dashboard after Discord OAuth. Expires after the configured session window or when you sign out.
- CSRF token cookie — helps verify that dashboard form submissions came from your active session.
- Theme preference cookie — remembers the visual theme you selected.
- Density preference cookie — remembers whether you use small, medium, or large dashboard density.
- Tour-dismissed cookie — remembers that you dismissed dashboard onboarding tips.
4. Cookies we do not use
GoofBot does not use advertising cookies, third-party behavioural tracking cookies, cross-context advertising pixels, or cookies that sell or share your activity for marketing. Embedded services such as Discord or Twitch may use their own cookies when you visit their websites or authorize through their OAuth pages; those cookies are governed by their policies.
5. Legal basis
Where cookie-consent laws apply, GoofBot treats these cookies as necessary or functional because they are required for authentication, security, preference storage, and dashboard operation. If future analytics or marketing cookies are added, this policy will be updated and consent controls will be added before those cookies are used.
6. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session or CSRF cookies, the dashboard may not let you sign in or save settings. Deleting preference cookies only resets your theme, density, and onboarding-tip choices.
7. Changes
Material changes will be announced on the dashboard and reflected by the version and last-updated date at the top of this page.
